Pool maintenance in India is largely unregulated, which means the difference between two vendors at similar prices can be enormous. Ask these ten questions before you sign.
1. Do you test the water on every visit, and what do you test? Expect free and combined chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness and TDS. Anything less is guesswork.
2. Will I receive the readings in writing? If there is no record, there is no accountability. Verbal reassurance is not a service.
3. Are chemicals included in the plan price? Otherwise your monthly cost is unknowable and every correction becomes a bill.
4. Who are the technicians, and are they trained and background-verified? These people access your property, often when you are not home.
5. What is your emergency response time? Pump failures and blooms do not wait for the next scheduled visit. Ask what "priority" concretely means in hours.
6. Do you inspect equipment, or only clean water? Filter pressure, pump seal, motor condition and skimmer lines should be part of every visit.
7. What happens if the pool turns green? A good answer is a diagnostic sequence. A bad answer is "we drain it".
8. Can I see historical data for my pool? Trends in hardness, TDS and alkalinity are how expensive failures get predicted instead of discovered.
9. Is pricing fixed and published? Per-visit quoting invites scope creep. Published AMC pricing means you can budget.
10. What is not included? Ask explicitly about equipment replacement, tile work, structural repair and emergency call-outs.
